  Structure of B.Tech. Program The duration of the B.Tech. Program shall be 4 years (8 semesters)  The maximum duration shall be six academic years spanning 12 semesters Every academic year shall have two semesters “1st July to 31st December (Odd semester)” and “1st January to 30th June (Even semester)” Each semester shall have minimum of 72 working days Every branch of the B.Tech Program shall have a curriculum and syllabi for the courses approved by the Academic Council Syllabus for any course shall be normally modified / updated once in four years Innovative elective courses can be included as and when required, on the recommendations of the respective Board of Studies and subject to the approval of the Academic Council The academic programs of the University follow the credit system The general pattern is as below:                 1 Hr. Lecture (L) per week                    -      1 credit                 1 Hr. Tutorial (T) per week                    -      1 credit

KTU gives students an opportunity for earning credit for one course to qualify for the Engineering Degree called Contact Courses. KTU ന്റെ കീഴിൽ ബി.ടെക് പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളിൽ ആർക്കെങ്കിലും ഏതേലും ഒരു സബ്ജെക്ട് മാത്രം Course Incomplete എന്ന രീതിയിൽ credit കുറവ് കാരണം ഡിഗ്രി കിട്ടാതെ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ആ സബ്‌ജെക്ടിൽ  Contact Course അവർ പഠിച്ച കോളേജിന് ഓഫർ ചെയ്യാവുന്നതാണ്... എന്താണ് കോഴ്സ് Incomplete? എന്തെങ്കിലും കാരണവശാൽ ഒരു subject നു internal assessment ഒന്നും complete ചെയ്യാൻ പറ്റാതെ 'I' ഗ്രേഡ് കിട്ടിയാണ് ആ കോഴ്സ് complete ചെയ്യുന്നത് എങ്കിൽ ആണ് കോഴ്സ് Incomplete എന്ന് പറയുന്നത്...
